Electromechanical Designer, Autonomous Robotic Team, Vertically Integrated Project (VIP), VCU   August 2022 -Present

  • Research and develop an autonomous forest traversal robot to gather data of tree leaves height using LIDAR.

  • Design and build the base of the vehicle that travels through the forest using SolidWorks to visual conception to then physically prototype.

Foreman, VCU Engineering Maker Space                                                                                                    January 2022 - May 2022                                   

  • Completed work orders that involved using a manual lathe, manual mill, and bandsaw.

  • Supported student maker space users by answering questions an explained technical processes.  

VCU Robotics Research                                                                                                                                       August 2021 – November 2021     

  • Researched mixed reality robotic control communication by using Unity and Microsoft Hololens.

  • Researched small robotic 3D printed arms.

  • Presented findings to a research group including Ph.D., undergrad, and grad students during a four-month period.

Independent Engineering Projects

       Octocanum drivetrain base for a wheelchair                                                                                                 March 2022 – Present

  • Designed and built an octocanum drive base that switches between mecanum wheels and pneumatic wheels. Assembled and fabricated the base using both sourced parts and custom parts machined using manual mill, bandsaw, electrical soldering iron, wire crimpers, welding and 3D Printing.  See project description here.

       Created high speed electric scooter.                                                                                                   August 2020 – August 2021

  • Created high speed electric scooter with max no load speed of 50 mph using components from an adult manual scooter and an electric skateboard. Skills used: manual mill, soldering iron, and various hand tools.

       First Robotics Team TALON 540 Programmer                                                                                         September 2014- June 2018

  • Created a Java program that switched control layouts with the press of a button to accommodate different users.

       VCU Hyperloop                         

  • Member of the power system team in gathering information, designing, and building the electrical system for the IVGC (Intelligent Ground Vehicle Competition) competition robot.

  • Member of the mechanical team to gather information, designing, and building the mechanical components for the IVGC (Intelligent Ground Vehicle Competition) competition robot.

       VCU ASME

  • Member of the power system to design, gather information, and develop the electrical system for the vehicle for the IM3D competition.

  • As the Assistant Supervisor of turnstile operations, managed the employees’ work schedules and enabled efficiency by providing high functioning equipment to employees. Also provided guests proper information and assistance.
